How to Get Rid of the Victim Complex
Show Notes Transcript

Maybe predators smell fear. Maybe it's sensed. Or maybe there is some quantum mechanics going on. But for whatever reason, when people see themselves as victims, they're more likely to become victimized. This has been demonstrated by people walking down the street. They are more likely to be attacked or robbed if they think they might be.

In contrast, people who exude a calm confidence don't get bothered as much. Whatever the reason for this phenomenon, getting rid of the victim complex is a good idea. How to do it is a bit trickier.

In this episode of the podcast, I share why we develop the victim complex, what we can do about it, and how we can go from victims of our lives to the conscious creators of our destiny.

The path to peace, love, health and happiness starts here.

0:49
In our modern society, being a victim is almost encouraged and rewarded. When we project our feeling of being a victim, we often garner sympathy and support from those around us or from like minded people online and in a disconnected, isolated, lonely world, that support can feel so nourishing.

1:51
But ultimately, that feeling comes at the expense of being truly happy. Support for being victimized is not what we truly crave.

2:10
And even though we all want support, we don't want to be victims, because ultimately being a victim being offended, is not a pleasant feeling.

2:28
And it disturbs our inner joy and our inner peace. And the reason that we have these victim mentalities is because we only identify with the physical body and we don't identify with our true selves, which is to say consciousness itself that which experiences  and when we miss identify with our physical body, which after we die, is still there, and yet, the consciousness has left. So we know that we are not just the physical body that grows old and dies.

3:49
But when we believe that we are these separate entities, these physical bodies only existing in this physical world, then we have fear.

4:08
And that fear is what causes all victim mentalities.

4:17
When we fear for our lives, or when we fear not having enough money, not having the life of our dreams, living in that worry and fear, suddenly the external world is our enemy. It's our competition.

4:48
And so if we can think of ourselves as victims, then we can blame someone else for our troubles.

5:01
But the real problem with thinking of yourself as a victim is that when you project victim, when you project fear, people are more likely to take advantage of you, you're more likely to be robbed.

5:20
And you're more likely to live your life constantly looking at who and what to blame.

5:31
This ruins relationships. This ruins our self esteem.

5:41
And it ultimately leads us to living a smaller, more fearful life, where we're afraid to take chances are afraid to grow and afraid to get out of our comfort zone.

5:57
And all of this fear, all of this false identity lies in our ego, the thinking mind, the creator of all of our problems, it wants to blame anything, but itself.

6:20
And when we identify with the ego, with the thoughts in our head, instead of that lifeforce energy of consciousness, then we create a duality within ourselves, there is our true self, and the ego, who we believe is our self that has this name and physical body.

6:47
And because we become split into we see the world through this duality. And now there is victim and perpetrator.

7:02
When we are fully present, when our ego takes a break, and we are just in being in we are fully present, there is no duality within us. And we suddenly realize a oneness through everything in the universe.

7:27
The idea of another disappears. Because we suddenly realize that we are connected intrinsically to everything and everyone around us. We understand the causes and effects that explain everything that happens in our world.

8:00
And we realize that we are the creators of that victim dynamic. When we realize that formless, timeless energy that has no boundary that knows no lack of time, or being in need of anything, to become full, complete whole, and that everything is within.

8:36
That everything we experience we experience within we realize that we are the creators of our destiny. We are the masters of our lives, not the ego, which thinks only in terms of instant gratification, and impatience, which thinks of fear and danger constantly, because that is why we have that ego so that we would know to stay away from tigers and the edges of tall cliffs.

9:26
But in our modern day of relatively safe society, that fear mechanism within us is activated by the news by politicians, and even by film and television where we pay money to be terrified for two hours in a horror movie.

9:54
And when we are not mindful of the impact Put that we are giving our brains, then that can become a very strong victim mentality.

10:12
But when we watch the news, and are not lost in the news, or when we watch a horror movie, but we're not lost in the movie, and we are mindful of our fear response.

10:28
Even when we're walking down the street, and worried about someone else walking down the street, or we're on social media, and we see something that really hurts us.

10:47
If we can observe without judging, if we can simply be with those feelings, without hating them, without fearing them, without putting any thoughts or opinions and allowing them to be, we don't give it more energy for it to grow and fester.

11:18
In fact, we create an aura of peace, around that fear around those feelings of hurt. And that is how those feelings of victim hood can be transformed into joy, oneness, love and compassion.

11:49
The more we practice, mindfulness, whether it's in meditation, or in our daily life, and just being present fully feeling what we're feeling, seeing what we're seeing, hearing what we're hearing. And when we do this, there is no room for thoughts because as soon as thoughts come in, we are not present we are not fully hearing, seeing, feeling smelling.

12:28
And so, the more we make a practice of being, the more we connect with who we truly, truly are.

12:42
That oneness that exists within us, and everything around us. The more we see how we shape our own reality.

12:56
And we either do it unconsciously creating things like a victim mentality, or we do it consciously and realizing our true nature as being pure love. Fearless, courageous, unwavering, love.
