How to Deal with Childhood Trauma?
Show Notes Transcript

Learning to let go is a lot harder when it's letting go of childhood trauma. When we're young, experiences will shape how we see the world for the rest of our lives. It becomes deeply engrained and becomes that much harder to heal from. But there are ways to do it. It is possible to reach deep into our psyche and pull out those weeds of trauma and plant beautiful flowers of love, trust, and gratitude.

In this episode, I share how we can all start the healing process from trauma, how we can make peace with what happened, how we can be more present and how we can transform the deep-seeded conditioning of our minds.

Please enjoy other episodes where Todd shares meditation techniques, tips and spiritual lessons from around the world for peaceful and stress-free living. Remember to subscribe to stay up-to-date.

Hello, and welcome to path to peace with Todd Perelmuter. I'm your host Todd Perelmuter. And today the question is, how to deal with childhood trauma. Childhood Trauma is the most difficult type of trauma to go through.

1:01
When we are children, we are the most impressionable, and everything that happens shapes how we see the world for the rest of our lives. The trauma gets buried deep in our psyche, and the memory will be there forever. And sometimes, we even bury the memories, as our mind attempts to cope with these unimaginable experiences.

1:35
And unfortunately, from bullies at school, to adults, we trust acting horrifically, so many people have some childhood trauma within them, if not all of us. And because this trauma lives deep within our subconscious, and we are often unconscious, of all the ways it affects us. We must communicate with our subconscious and unconscious mind in order to process these deeply traumatic experiences.

2:21
There are many ways we can connect with and transform our subconscious and unconscious minds to heal trauma.

2:36
And there is no one right or wrong way for every single person. Some people find great benefit from hypnotherapy, a state where we become deeply relaxed.

2:56
And yet we are still conscious and able to direct our consciousness, our attention and awareness into these usually unconscious parts of our mind.

3:15
And that's really what we need to do. We need to dive deep into our psyche and really connect with that area because most of our trauma lives there. And it peaks its head into our consciousness when something triggers it either an experience a person, or even just a thought.

3:42
And so for many people hypnotherapy has been helpful for many other people, plant medicines, such ayuscha, or psilocybin have been proven to be very useful for peering into our subconscious and unconscious minds.

4:05
And while those plant medicines can sometimes be very intense, and we are not fully in control of the journey, are what the medicines want to show us. Meditation is the practice that allows us to be the captain of that ship and allows us to navigate those waters with full awareness and intention.

4:33
In meditation, we enter that relaxed state that hypnotherapy can put you in and we can be the masters of our mind. We can allow our conscious mind because we're awake and fully alert to connect with the subconscious mind the subconscious and unconscious minds are like the ocean.

5:03
And underneath the ocean is where most of our mind is. And all the conscious thoughts and perceptions we have, are like the waves on the top, just a sliver of the depth and magnitude of our mind. So much happens behind the scenes. However, what happens underneath bubbles to the top and reveals itself in our thought processes.

5:40
And so we can observe and meditation, whatever thoughts arise, and we can really observe our body's physical and emotional response to what comes up. And these are all phenomena that can direct us towards our subconscious and unconscious minds. The more we meditate, the deeper we can dive into that ocean of consciousness. And we can release any kinds of pain and suffering. Because underneath the water are the entirety of our mind, the good and the bad. And through meditation, we can weed out our anger, and our hatred, and our vengeance.

6:38
We can see anything that isn't serving us that we're clinging on to, and we can release it, we can weed out the garden, and we can plant and nourish feelings of love, kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. Simply by looking within going deep, and consciously altering our subconscious and unconscious psyche. It may not happen overnight. And maybe patience, compassion, and forgiveness are exactly what we need to give ourselves first.

7:28
Normally, our thoughts pop into our mind out of nowhere, and we can't control them. But in meditation, we can observe them.

7:43
And we can consciously explore and transform them.

7:49
It gives us the peaceful and calm environment, internally and externally, to explore what may be scary, and we can face our fears. And we can overcome them. And all we have to do is not be afraid to look, because that fear where the suffering lies.

8:15
And to do that we just walk out a few minutes a day, as many as we're able to, to close our eyes, sit still. And repeat either a mantra or just focus on your breath, allow whatever comes up, to come up while remaining at peace, and just accepting it. And then watching how it goes away. Because everything is always arising and falling away in our mind. And when we become deeply aware of that truth. We can let it go. Let it come and we'll be at peace. And over time.

9:02
As we become more and more peaceful with these traumatic experiences. The less we fixate on it, the less it disturbs us.

9:17
And the more it just becomes like background noise at a restaurant. almost inaudible hardly aware of it at all. And we can finally take back control of our mind on our lives from people and experiences that have hurt us. Thank you so much for listening. This has been path to peace with Todd Perelmuter. Peace and love.
