Can ai Expand Our Consciousness?
Show Notes Transcript

The future is coming at us fast. If we look at the trend of where technology is headed, we can see robotics and software becoming smarter, faster, and smaller. In many ways, computers are smarter than humans, but a computer still can't design a computer better than humans can. They lack the creativity and the conscious awareness that humans have.

So, if the seemingly inevitable merger of humans and machines does take place, will ai be able to expand our consciousness? Is the merging good or bad? Will it make us more human, or less human? And ultimately, will it be a tool to further our spiritual journey or will it prevent spiritual progress? The answer may surprise you.

it is not difficult to look at the trend in technology and see a pattern and a direction. And that is towards a merging of technology and biology. We can see this already in people who have had accidents where they may have lost a body part or the use of an Oregon and they have relied on some technological implant. Stephen Hawking, famed astrophysicist, was lucky that technology kept coming up with new ways to communicate just as his old way of communicating was becoming disabled.

1:43
Once he lost the ability, right, they made him a device where he could type. And soon after that, there became another tool for to help him communicate. And when he would lose any sound, or ability to move his fingers, they had a software, which could track his eye movement, so he could look at a letter and communicate that way. And his final technological advance, when even that became too difficult, was a device that could read his brainwaves wirelessly. So you could do it simply by thinking.

2:24
But you don't even have to have had any kind of injury or disability to have merged with technology in some way. All of us have given over our memory power of memorizing phone numbers, addresses and directions, we've given this power over to our phone to an external technology to do that.

2:50
memory processing for us. And so if you're like me, it's much harder to memorize seven or 10 numbers than it used to be.

3:03
And it's just getting all of these technologies as fast as possible and efficiently as possible. So instead of going to the library, and looking up

3:15
code on a Dewey Decimal System, to find a book that may or may not be there, you can just verbally even ask a question to your phone or computer. And the answer shows right up.

3:31
Soon that knowledge can be there, while you're still thinking of a question to ask. So it very well may be that eventually, we merge in more ways, with machines, not just for repairing our bodies, but maybe even improving our bodies, our memories.

4:02
But while AI can expand what we are conscious of it can never expand our consciousness. It may help us process more information at a faster speed. But it cannot make us more conscious because it fundamentally misunderstands who we are because we can never actually merge with technology.

4:34
Our bodies can merge with technology, but who we truly are, is not in the material body. And so our consciousness can never be altered. And if we as a species, make AI our final quest for enlightened Men and happiness, we are just again searching for an answer outside of us, that lies within us.

5:10
If we go chasing AI, as the answer, to solving our problems, and make us whole, it will become a tool of destruction. If we first raise our consciousness, and feel that inner peace within, and nurture our compassion, and kindness, then create an AI, not out of need, but out of enriching the lives of everyone, then we can consciously use technology for that advantage, without creating new problems, that systems built on selfishness, and competition, and fear create. And so the world where AI merges with humans won't be so different than it is now, you may be able to instantly read every book and see every movie and master every skill.

6:30
But we currently have most of the world's knowledge at our fingertips. And we can pretty much become an expert at any skill we put our time to today. While AI can change the way we see, and remember things, it can never change, that beingness that awareness and consciousness within you. It is formless, and it is already infinite, which means it cannot be expanded. While technology can expand our lives, it can never expand our humanity.

7:15
And just maybe when the new AI, brain microchip comes out, maybe don't get the first one or two, and wait till they work out the kinks. And so there's no computer virus, our insatiable quest for new technologies, just like our insatiable quest for conquering new lands, is not the place where we will find lasting happiness, true inner joy, so rich in spirit, it won't come from any technology, it won't come from adding anything to you. It simply requires appearing in deep within and reconnecting with that true essence of who you are conscious awareness itself, that anything outside of it simply obscures our view of it.

8:24
And we begin to think that machines can increase quality of our experience. And yet, despite our efforts, the wealthiest most technologically advanced societies are some of the most unhappy, depressed, isolated with anxiety as well. This is because in those nations, material gain is sold as the solution for happiness.

8:58
They have lost touch with what so many older cultures still practice today, which is the knowing that simply being not sitting still and not doing anything but being and wherever you are, and whatever you're doing, you are fully there being present moment that these cultures with ancient traditions still practice and still recognize as the source of joy and the purpose of a civilization being to help everyone reach their potential. The less we seek the answer outside of us, the more we can experience that inner peace and joy within.
